Fantastic full breakfast lineup with Senator Sherrod Brown, Congressman Jason Crow, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and Congressman Al Green. Wonderful, moving, intimate conversations with the Colorado delagation.
Some caucuses spend a lot of their time making the case for the Party's nominee. It's preaching to the choir, of course, but as somone noted, choirs need practice. This meeting was at its best when focusing on issues unique to the 32 million latinx voters in the country and the need to have record-breaking engagement in 2020 to make the changes we need.
Labor has had a host of champions appear at their caucuses this week, including, Stacey Abrams & the fight for voter protection, Discussion on Racial Justice in the Workplace, Labor and DNC Platform, OH Senator Sherrod Brown, Panel on Unions Standing up for Frontline Workers during the Pandemic, DNC Chair Tom Perez, Restoring the Federal Workforce, AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka, Panel of Union Members elected to Office, NJ Governor Phil Murphy, and Fighting for the Postal Service. (Not necessarily on this video, but between the two Labor meetings, most of these folks spoke.)
Senator Tammy Baldin, Dr. Jill Biden, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, Congresswoman Dina Titus, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, Ashley Biden, Valerie Viden Owens, Lottie Shackleford, Donna Brazile, Ilyse Hogue (President of NARAL), Alexis McGill Johnson (President Planned Parenthood Action Fund), Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, and more.)

Jena Griswold was a most welcome guest at our Colorado Delegations Breakfast on Tuesday, giving special attention to the state of mail-ballot voting in Colorado and around the country. Colorado is a model for effective and secure mail-ballot voting, and our voters should feel confident about the process going into the November election. Still, we highly recommend everyone vote early, vote safely, and leave nothing to chance. VOTE!
Take my word for it, Congresswoman Sewell hit a home run at the Colorado Delegation Breakfast Tuesday. If you don't believe me, read her lips. Sadly, there may not be another way to know what she's saying, since the audio seems to be off.
This is the result of the delightfully full schedule Convention Week brings. The second Sewell finished speaking, I switched Zoom accounts and went to Our Revolution Colorado's Convention Coverage to give a presentation on campaign finance reform. I'm afraid the setting I needed for that event ended up muting the sound for Congresswoman Sewell. Click here if you'd like to see the presentation with Our Revolution Colorado. (coming soon)
This was one of the more hopeful caucus meetings I've attended, as the group still finds room to get stronger every year, wiht more victories, more representation, and more to look forward to.
These Youth Caucus meetings have rocked!
This was one of my favorite caucuses eight year ago, and today's meeting was 10 times better -- so that's saying a lot! From the impacts of COVID-19 to Environmental Justice, the was one of the most substantive caucus meetings yet.

Governor Polis talked to us from his car -- the passenger seat. The video has spotty reception at the beginning, but it gets better soon enough.

Thanks to Diana DeGette for her reality check-in with the Colorado Delegation to the Democratic National Convention at our daily Breakfast Meeting.

Senator Klobuchar had an intimate talk with the Colorado Delegation Monday morning, kicking off the convention at our Colorado Breakfast. Kudos to Amy for making it an interactive experience, even shouting out to one delegate to put his morning paper down and complimenting many of us (blush) on our convention hats.

A great collection of speakers, including both Secretary Julian Castro and Congressman Juan Castro, speaking about Latinx issues and, in particular, the effect of the pandemic on the Latinx community.

Biden/Harris Campaign, Stacey Abrams & the fight for voter protection, Discussion on Racial Justice in the Workplace, Labor and DNC Platform, OH Senator Sherrod Brown, Panel on Unions Standing up for Frontline Workers during the Pandemic, DNC Chair Tom Perez, Restoring the Federal Workforce, AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka, Panel of Union Members elected to Office, NJ Governor Phil Murphy, Fighting for the Postal Service, Call to Action to All Union Members and appearances by other SPECIAL GUESTS!
A wide array of speakers filled out this program, apparently all pre-recorded spots. Featured speakers included Congresswoman Karen Bass, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Congresswoman Ayanna Presley, and many more. Speakers gave special attention to the impact of COVID-19 on the Black community and special emphasis on aspects of systemic racism throughout the country. Some of the most compelling material came from Congresswoman Laurie Underwood, a nurse from Illinois, who talked about her work with pregnant women and noted that African American women are six times more likely to die from pregnancy related issues than white women, a clearcut example of systemic racism.
Not surprisingly, this was one of the most interesting caucus and council meetings of the convention's first day. The speakers were bold and challenging, challenging their party and their candidates to do more -- and to do better. Among the speakers were Stacy Abrams, Deborah Holland, and many more. This is one worth watching.
Performance by Leon Bridgers, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer,
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Performance by Maggie Rogers, Rep. Jim Clyburn, Convention Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, Rep. Gwen Moore, Former Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Doug Jones, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and more.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama, Sen. Bernie Sanders, performance by Stephen Stills and Billy Porter, and more
There are more ways than ever to watch the convention this year. Click the image to the right to see the many options to watch anything from the convention floor speeches to the caucus meetings and round table discussions. I recommend logging on early for whatever you want to watch, in case there are capacity issues with the viewing platform you're using. Here are a few of the options available: demconvention.com/watch , YouTube.com/demconvention , Facebook.com/demconvention , Twitter.com/demconvention , Twitch.tv/demconvention , and many more.
A week before the convention was scheduled to start, the Colorado Bernie Delegation held a Town Hall to report on our activity since being elected delegates and to hear from Coloradans with their questions and the messages they wanted us to bring to the convention. We reported extensively on our work on the Party Platform and Rules and looked at everything from our work on A Green New Deal for Animals to our protest of Medicare For All's exclusion from the Platform. Click the image to the right to watch a recording of the Town Hall Meeting.
More videos will be added here throughout the convention. For Platform/Policy wonks, several hours of working through the Platform before presenting it to the delegates for a vote. Sadly, the final version did not include a Medicare For All plank, despite being included in every State Democratic Party Platform.
More videos will be added here throughout the convention.
